The ultimative guidebook for Christmas drinks
While strolling on the local Christmas markets, on a cold winter evening, the stop at the beverage stand simply should not be missing. Anyone who orders a delicious hot drink for warming up at Christmas markets today, no longer has to choose between fire tong punch and Gluhwein. The range of drinks on the menu has grown enormously in the last few years and ranges from Christmas cocktails and curious blends to absolute classics. Some exotics have also established themselves firmly. To avoid you getting confused by all the names, we have created a small guide through the merry world of Christmas market drinks.
Flame-tong punch - a sugar loaf soaked in rum is placed over the hot red wine and lit. Little by little the sugar drips into the wine and gives it a very special note. It is typically refined with orange, lemon and vanilla.
Jagertee - an Austrian drink made from black tea and rum. If the mixture is made in Germany and not in Austria, it is usually sold as Hüttentee because a real Jagertee must have been made in Austria.
Lumumba - behind the unusual name hides a simple hot chocolate with added rum.
Grog - rum with sugar, filled with hot water. This is just how simple and fast the grog is.
Hot fruit wine - In Frankfurt it is hot cider, in other cities the hot cherry wine: heated fruit wines are enjoying growing popularity.
Egg punch - consists mostly of whipped egg white, egg yolk, rum, white wine, cream, sugar, vanilla and is served with a cream topping.
Hot juices with a shot - hot apple or orange juice with rum, vodka or amaretto.
Irish coffee - is a sweetened coffee with Irish whiskey and a topping of cream. After classic preparation, sugar is caramelized in a glass over an open flame and finally infused with whiskey and coffee.
Honigmet - also called honey wine - is an alcoholic drink with honey and water. It has been proven that Met and grape wine were the first alcoholic beverages after beer.
Hot Toddy (IRL) - the Irish drink is also known under the name "Hot Whisky". It consists of lemon, schnapps, honey and hot water. In some variants, tea or various spices are also added.
Glögg (SWE) - the Swedish sister of Gluhwein is sold with hot red wine, vodka, raisins and almonds. The Glögg has a few more turns per mill and its very own spice note.
Bombardino (IT) - is mostly made from hot milk, egg liqueur, cream and brandy. Bombardino is mainly found in Italian ski resorts.
Ponche navideño (MEX) - this Mexican punch is made from apples, oranges, sugar cane juice, guavas, plum juice and, depending on the region, many other ingredients.
Coquito (PRI) - which means "small coconut". It consists of coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk, white rum, cinnamon and vanilla. It is usually drunk cold for dessert.

For 2 cups
240ml banana juice
amaretto
whipped cream
cinnamon
Heat the banana juice and fill into 2 cups. Add one shot of Amaretto into each cup (approx. 30 ml). Add the whipped cream, sprinkle the cinnamon over the top and the incredibly delicious Christmas cocktail is ready.
Gluhbier - a stylish mulled wine alternative drink.
For 4 cups:
1L dark beer
250ml sour cherry juice
1 piece star anise
1 small cinnamon stick
2 cloves
½ Lemon
60g honey
Put all the ingredients in a pot and heat slowly, do not boil and serve with a slice of lemon.
Ginger punch - not only warming, but also great for the immune system.
For 2 cups:
250ml hot water
10g ginger
2TL Honey
1cl lime juice
5cl brown rum
1 carnation
according to taste Sugar syrup
Chop the ginger finely. Mix honey, lime juice, (sugar syrup), clove and rum in a cup. Add the ginger and hot water. Let the clove steep to taste.

Snow flurry - actually there are some Christmas drinks available under this name. Here we present the version known to us. Sounds like it needs getting used to, but it's a great combination.For 2 cups
